From India to Innovation: My Journey to Creating Short Stuff
Share
Every brand has a story, and I’m excited to finally share mine with you. I’m Roxanne, founder of Short Stuff—a brand inspired by my own childhood, my journey across continents, and a dream to spark curiosity in the next generation.
Growing Up Curious in India
I was born and raised in India, in a home filled with laughter, learning, and a deep appreciation for the world beyond our doorstep. As a child, I was endlessly curious. I loved exploring new ideas, reading stories about far-off places, and imagining adventures I might one day have. Traveling was always a dream—one that seemed a little out of reach, but always alive in my heart.
Chasing New Horizons
Eventually, I moved to the United States as an immigrant, carrying with me not just a suitcase, but a lifetime of dreams, values, and a passion for learning. The transition wasn’t always easy, but it taught me resilience, adaptability, and the beauty of embracing new cultures. I found myself constantly inspired by the diversity and possibilities around me, and I wanted to pass that sense of wonder on to my own family.
The Spark Behind Short Stuff
When I became a parent, I searched for clothing that was more than just cute or comfortable. I wanted something that reflected my own values—soft, safe, sustainable, and educational. I remembered how much I loved learning as a child, and how stories and curiosity shaped who I am today. That’s when the idea for Short Stuff was born.
Building a Brand With Purpose
Short Stuff is a reflection of my journey:
- Our snuggle-soft, hypoallergenic bamboo fabric is inspired by my commitment to comfort and sustainability.
- Our educational prints and storybooks are a tribute to the curiosity that defined my childhood and my travels.
- Our gender-neutral, seasonless designs reflect my belief in inclusivity and environmental care, encouraging hand-me-downs and less waste.
A Global Perspective for Every Family
Every Short Stuff collection is designed to bring a little bit of the world into your home—whether it’s through our World of Wonder prints or our multilingual storybooks. I want every child to feel the same excitement I did about learning, exploring, and dreaming big.
Why I Do What I Do
As a women-owned, parent-powered business, I’m proud to handle every customer question personally. My hope is that Short Stuff helps families everywhere create meaningful moments, spark curiosity, and feel connected to a bigger world.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you’re new here or a longtime supporter, I’m grateful for your trust and excited for all the adventures ahead.
